The Quincho

An indoor-outdoor pavilion and modern cottage, the Quincho is designed for entertaining and hosting visiting family and friends.

Maximum Fun, Minimum Fuss

When a “landlocked” interior parcel behind their house came up for sale, the clients saw more than an empty lot with a lot of zoning constraints. They saw it as an opportunity to create a modern take on a quincho - the traditional outdoor kitchen and entertaining spaces from one of the client’s native Argentina - while providing flex space for visiting friends and family to stay. The Quincho sports a full kitchen dining area inside plus a large BBQ and Argentinian grill outside. DeForest Architects worked with landscape architects SCJ and interior designer Mariana Flombaum to develop the design around the mantra: Maximum Fun, Minimum Fuss.

Out of Sight

A wall of cabinet doors slide open for access to a coffee station and storage or close to hide clutter. A steel ladder, designed by DA and fabricated by Dyna, rolls out to provide access to a loft that can be used as an office or additional sleeping space.
