Skyhook House

Skyhook House
This lakefront house gets its nickname from the way the ceiling is suspended from above, as if by an invisible 'skyhook'. Removing much of the main floor structure opens the main living spaces to terraces, gardens and sweeping views.

House in the Trees
This small modern retreat on Whidbey Island will sit on a woodland site with views of Puget Sound. Floor-to-ceiling doors and windows open the house to views while smaller openings and a writer’s perch provide glimpses through the trees. Starts construction September 2012.

  Olympic Straights

Olympic Straits
A reflection of the region’s agrarian roots, this modern farmhouse outside of Sequim is divided into smaller buildings. A main house, master suite, guest house and garage+shop create more intimate outdoor spaces within the five acre parcel. The owners are avid gardeners with plans to develop the site over time with a kitchen garden, small orchard and lavender field.

Honolulu Housing Hui
DA is working with a group of families in Hawaii to design an affordable, connected, community in tune with the environment. By joining together, the group and their developer are finding opportunities to reduce land and construction costs significantly. Along with Schemata Workshop in Seattle and Collaborative Studio on Oahu, we are evaluating sites in and around Honolulu. Check out the Honolulu Housing Hui website or contact us to learn more about the project and the cohousing movement.

  Brambles

DA led a series of brainstorming workshops to create a vision for a unique project in the California Wine Country. Recently, we began schematic design of the first structure on the property, which will eventually include a walking golf course, glider-port, bunkhouse, and cottages. See http://www.bramblesgolf.com.
