This New Year marked the first anniversary of our move to 1148 NW Leary Way. What a year it has been! We will be using this blog to tell you about all the great things that have been happening for DeForest Architects, but first we want to invite you to check out our new digs.
Though it may appear reserved on the outside, the inside of 1148 NW Leary is full of light and inspiration. Three courtyards bring daylight into the space, but the starring role is played by the central courtyard, the “hole of the donut,” which brightens and connects the spaces around it. With the help of Allworth Design, we enhanced the courtyard layout and celebrated with a planting party to get the job done.
Here are some glimpses of its former state:
The interior of the building needed some updating, so we took on the task of improving the interior by removing the dropped ceiling, taking down partitions, and replacing the finishes and fixtures. An all-office effort, some of us even got involved in building our standing height desks.
Also new for DA+, we are sharing the space with co-tenants who work in related fields and in some cases, work with us on projects. We love this collaborative atmosphere, and it has been a benefit to our clients as well. Also residing at 1148 NW Leary are Project Groundwork, Ore Studios, and LumberJill.
See below for some more photos of the space, before and after. Better yet, come see for yourself! We look forward to showing you around.
